We are in the home stretch, so close! We’ve got to be patient though, as they are still looking @ a mid July-early August grand opening.
These jobs get sub contracted out and when those crews are done with another job they move to our park to work. Thus, you have seen periods of major activity and then weeks of nothing.
They still have to put the front gates on and the blacktop will be sprayed with a ‘cool pavements’-like material that is safe and keeps the ground temp cooler. Its final color will lighter as well.
People ask why we went with asphalt. After years of working with NYCDOG, visiting other dog runs, SUDS chose to go with this surface for several reasons: 1. Wood Chips, Pebblestone & Sand can smell bad and are a breeding ground for disease. 2. They have to be replaced, as they fall out of the run and just stink. $. 3. Dirt/grass make the run unusable in bad weather, a real mess. 4. This surface is easier to clean, we’ll get a power washer for that. Maybe a SUDS Zamboni?
